Council Directive 91/414/EEC regulating the placement of plant protection products on the market in the EU, has been amended by several directives concerning the registration of biopesticides in the past. The subject of these amendments are special questions such as different data requirements for chemical and microbial pesticides (e.g. Directive 2001/36 EC; 2005/25/EC). Many topics regarding registration of biological plant protection products are still a matter of draft working documents, guidance documents or discussion.
Some uncertainties concerning biopesticicdes have been reduced by Regulation 1107/2009/EC. However, due to the diversity of active substances, control organisms or products, the registration of biopesticides will remain a complex business requiring in particular knowledge of the latest scientific research.
Special knowledge and close contact to experts and authorities is especially needed if subsidies or support programs are to be incorporated into the registration procedure of a biopesticide. The staff of SCC's Agrochemicals and Biopesticides Department is experienced in research and development, the registration of biopesticides and has also worked as a consultant to non-governmental and governmental organizations.
With all this special knowledge and experience available, and to be able to exploit every opportunity provided by the fast-growing markets for organic farming and biological control, let SCC take care!
